Get your hands dirty! We welcome all levels—from absolute beginners to experienced artists and craftspeople—to a learning environment where people work together to create something amazing. Some classes are offered as weekly sessions, others as weeklong intensive workshops, and some take place in a single exciting night. See available hands-on industrial arts classes in our Volume 1, 2017 catalog, the Adult Class Index page, or the Youth Class Index page.

The Crucible is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and we rely on your generosity to keep the arts in our community! Tuition only covers 65% of our annual operating budget; donors like you help us keep our programs thriving, provide accessible programs, employ working artists, partner with local schools, and train the next generation of makers. If you believe in the life-changing power of collaboration, creativity, and community, please support The Crucible with a 100% tax-deductible contribution.

Hot Couture 2017: The Beautiful Ones will feature artists and designer teams creating haute couture concepts and dazzling runway performances that illustrate the intersection between fashion, traditional industrial materials, and fabrication. Hot Couture will feature an amazing lineup and a grand finale by Michael Sturtz, collaborating with some of the West Coast’s most talented aerialists, hand-balancers, and contortionists to craft a story called “The Origin of Love.” HC17 runs February 16-19 and tickets are on sale now.

The Crucible offers a fantastic array of classes geared to ages 8-17. Youth can enroll in any of 15 disciplines including ceramics, glass blowing, bike shop, jewelry, kinetics, and welding. While the classes are undeniably fun, students can apply what they’ve learned here–creative problem-solving, scientific principles, and teamwork–at school and beyond. Check out the Youth Class Index page to see classes currently available for registration. Need-based scholarships are available.

Our creative, hands-on Team Building Workshops are fun, effective offsite experiences designed for Bay Area organizations. Our industrial arts will get your teams off the computer and having fun with glass fusing, flameworking, welding, blacksmithing, plasma cutting, jewelry making, woodturning and much more. Workshops are customizable and can meet the needs of any group, from as few as six to over 100 people. To learn more, please email us at teambuilding@thecrucible.org or call (510) 444-0919 x125.
