STEVE YOUNG
President

Steven Young has over 13 years of design and project management experience working as a landscape architect in the San Francisco Bay Area. Steven currently works with Magrane Associates Landscape Design as a senior landscape architect designing and managing the construction of custom estate properties. He recently collaborated with a group of artists as construction manager on the Panhandle Bandshell installation, an award winning community art project in the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Steve was introduced to The Crucible as a student. Now serving as a Board member, Steve works closely with program staff to improve student experiences and to help turn students into donors. Steve is also serving on a Board Development Committee which will help to change the way the Board functions and the way new members are recruited and stewarded.

 



JEREMY CRANDELL
Secretary

Jeremy Crandell was a producer at America Online, worked as a technician at Network for Good and co-founded the BrightMail Anti-Spam System – now a part of Symantec, Inc. Jeremy currently works as a technology consultant for individuals and businesses throughout the Bay Area, and also serves on a number of nonprofit boards including PlanetQuest and the Black Rock Arts Foundation. In addition to setting up The Crucible’s telephone and computer networks, Jeremy has served as an IT consultant for the organization for more than five years. Jeremy is currently advising staff on the creation and implementation of a new data management system. In addition to giving his time and expertise, Jeremy is a strong financial supporter of the organization and has made major gifts annually as well as a number of significant capital contributions.

 

TIM IRVIN
Treasurer

Tim Irvin is currently the Vice President and Senior Consultant for NetTempo, heading up the company’s network and systems design and implementation services. Prior to joining NetTempo in 1998, Tim held positions as an IT Manager at the BAAN Company, as a Senior Systems/Network Administrator at Cisco Systems, as the Computer Systems Engineering Manager at Industrial Light & Magic, and as a Senior Systems Administrator at the NASA/Ames Research Center. Tim received his bachelor’s of science degree in computer science from the University of Tennessee.

 


GREG HANSEN
Member

Greg Hansen is currently a Principal with Lapis Group, Inc., a human resources consulting company. Prior to co-founding Lapis Group, Greg was Director of Compensation and Benefits for 8 years at Chiron Corporation, a biopharmaceuticals company in Emeryville; founded and operated a business travel agency and previously to that had a 15-year career at Bank of America primarily focused on international human resources including assignments in Caracas and Buenos Aires. During his small business experience he served four years on the Board of the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce including terms as Treasurer and Vice President. Greg joined The Crucible as a student member, became involved with the Human Resources Committee and subsequently joined the Board.

LESLIE PRITCHETT
Member

Leslie Pritchett brings to her public art and community art program consulting more than 20 years experience in corporate marketing, small business and start-up business management. She spent several years as managing partner of Digital Pond, a high-end digital imaging company serving clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies, such as Nike and Hewlett-Packard, to leading museums and fine art print purveyors, including the Ansel Adams Gallery. She entered the nonprofit arena as executive director of the Black Rock Arts Foundation, where over the course of three years she produced or supported more than 28 public art projects, including eight major and award-winning temporary public installations within the City of San Francisco. She secured the organization’s first major grants from the James Irvine Foundation, the San Francisco Foundation, SF Grants for the Arts, San Francisco Department of the Environment, and several private foundations. The program for temporary art exhibition that she helped establish now serves as a model for municipalities around the country. Through public art consulting and production of major public art exhibitions, Leslie is able to integrate her business experience with her love of fostering community-building art programs. Leslie holds a Masters in Business Administration from Columbia University and a degree in French Literature from Dartmouth College.

 


MELISSA ROSENGARD
Member

Melissa Rosengard has worked in the nonprofit field for nearly 20 years. She is the founder of Vision dot org, providing consulting services to organizations primarily in the areas of governance, strategic planning, program/event planning, audience evaluation, social networking strategies, and executive search. For ten years she was executive director of the Western Museums Association (WMA), providing professional development and advocacy opportunities for museum workers. Melissa worked to enhance communications and outreach of the organization, and to improve program planning and implementation. In 2005, under her leadership on collaborative programming, the Western Museums Association was awarded the prestigious Citation for International Service bestowed by the International Committee on Museums (ICOM) of the American Association of Museums for the WMA's joint programs with the British Columbia Museums Association. Melissa's board experience consists of serving as Board President of several organizations, including Bentley School (Oakland K-12) and the Pardee Museum Foundation (Oakland), and she has been recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the Piedmont East Bay Children's Choir, and to the Advisory Board of Reading Partners. She has served several times as a grants reviewer and panelist for the federal Institute of Museum & Library Services, and is a peer reviewer for the American Association of Museums. Melissa received her M.A. in Art History from the University of Illinois and her B.A. in Economics from UCLA.

 

KEVIN KOSIK
Member

Kevin Kosik is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and the Chief Development Officer for the Berkeley-Albany YMCA, where he oversees individual, institutional, and capital fundraising and development activities for the association. Originally from New York, Kevin spent five years in corporate banking before moving to Chicago to earn his MA in Theatre Arts at the University of Illinois and transition to a career in nonprofit administration. With more than 15 years experience in the nonprofit sector, including work with the Chicago Youth Symphony, Navy Pier, and the Sierra Club, Kevin has been volunteering with The Crucible since 2007.
