The Crucible is a non-profit educational collaboration of arts, industry, and community. We offer a wide range of classes designed to promote creative expression, reuse of materials, and innovative design. Our programs attract working artists, trades people, and community youth and adults. Studio Manager Position Summary: The Studio Manager works as part of a team to build, organize, maintain, and supervise the studio for classes, events, and special projects. This position supervises students, youth, volunteers, and interns. The Studio Manager reports directly to the Director of Studio Operations.
Qualifications: Successful candidates must demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills. S/he must be able to work with a high degree of accuracy to prioritize and work on several projects concurrently. Minimum 1 year of management experience. Experience in teaching or interaction with youth and students is a plus. Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience in construction, foundry, and glass working, and to those who posses a strong working knowledge of hand and power tools. Electrical and mechanical skills as well as the ability to maintain and repair tools are a plus. Must be Mac literate and hold a valid CA drivers license. Hours: This position is part-time (20 hours per week), non-exempt. Salary: $12.50/hour. The position includes access to a large sculpture facility and free classes (1 per session). Possible teaching opportunities will be available.
