deYoung Museum's Kimball Education Gallery Reception - Friday, July 25, 2008
During the month of July, The Crucible has been in residence at the deYoung Museum's Kimball Education Gallery collaborating with the community to create a public art piece titled Unity with Nature. Inspired by the Chihuly exhibition, the project invites museum visitors to work with Crucible staff, faculty and volunteers to create a tree using glass fusing and clay forming skills and drawing inspiration from the natural environment around the museum. The tree is growing with each participant's personal expression, and when finished the work will symbolize the strength of unity with nature and the interconnection of art, people and the natural world.
Mark your calendars to join us in the Kimball Gallery for the closing reception on July 25th, when the completion of the project will be celebrated with light refreshments and live music.
