The pride of Oakland's art scene is the diverse and eccentric foundation that it was built upon. Join us as we illuminate the authentic world of original Oakland artists in this unique presentation and a lecture panel of industrial arts collectives that are Made in Oakland.

We will be highlighting: Hot Wheels, Enameling, Foundry, Fused Glass, Glass Coldworking, Machine Shop, Fire Performance, Kinetics, Fire Effects and Resources for Artists.

Fall Open House

A fun day for the whole family! Our open houses are a wonderful way to experience the excitement of The Crucible's 56,000 sq. ft. studio, where furnaces roar and sparks fly. Check out exciting live demonstrations including welding, glass working, metal casting, and blacksmithing. Catch amazing performances and wander through our student and faculty art show displaying the creativity of The Crucible.

As does life, art shapes and shifts. Explore the lines and texture of raw materials and the dynamic processes that shift their natural shape into refined representations of artists' imaginations. Join us for a riveting lecture on how the shape of art has shifted through time.
