Specializing in Metalsmithing, Bonnie Heras has a BFA from California College of the Arts and a MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art. As a jeweler and sculptor Bonnie enjoys working with a variety of materials outside the realm of her formal training.
At moments walking a fine line, her jewelry likes to question our understanding of body adornment and wearability, at the same time her sculptors discusses the body as an narrative object in and of itself. While producing her ideas many traditional Metalsmithing techniques are applied, such as Hollowware forming, Chasing and Repousse. When she is not working on personal endeavors, Bonnie can be found working on large-scale group projects, and is an active member of the 5 Ton Crane art organization. Her work can be viewed in exhibitions locally, nationally, and internationally.
