Liz Judkins works both creatively and professionally with steel. A painter, sculptor, sewer, tinkerer, her first love is that of simply making, no matter the media. She has been an artist all her life, but when she first held a torch to a piece of steel, there was a certain, unmistakable draw. Her current passion is metal because the possibilities and challenges are apparently endless and the results are so satisfying. For her, there is a world of stories in a pile of discarded metal, waiting to be told in many different ways. She loves the heat of the forge and can sometimes be found pounding away on hot steel in the smithy.

A Bay Area native, she studied painting at the CCA, and art education with a sculpture emphasis at San Francisco State University. She is a current student at Laney College. She has taken many classes at The Crucible and teaches in the welding department. She worked as a fabricator and blacksmith at Red Frog Metal Design. The name of her business is Saw Tooth Metal.
