Description
One of the earliest techniques of glass manipulation, Pate-de-verre or “paste of glass,”
is a versatile kiln casting technique that uses glass particles, mixed with a binder, and
heated in a kiln. The class will make a low fire bowl with a “sugar crystal” look on the
outer surface. Decorative features will be added to the bowl using powders, fine frit, and
surface textures. Once you learn this method, it can be used to make other types of
objects like masks, tiles, figurative work, or any open-face shape of small or large
dimensions. No prior experience necessary.
