Weeklong youth camps make imaginations soar while teaching skills and concepts that overlap science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Campers get hands-on learning in the industrial arts, experiment with different media and techniques, and connect with creative mentors and new friends. Youth create welded sculpture, leather bags, clay animals, gravity cars, and more. Each week ends with a gallery walk where students proudly share their works of art. The Crucible offers morning and afternoon camps for ages 8-18.
During summer, we run over a hundred different weeklong Youth Camps in 15 different departments for youth ages 8-18.

The Crucible provides daily Youth After Care for students enrolled in youth camps. You can select a 1-hour option (4-5pm) or a 2-hour option (4-6pm), running for the entire week of the selected camp. Youth After Care is supervised by a youth staff member and is intended to allow extra time for parents to wrap up their work days. We encourage you to pre-register.
Youth Program Scholarships
The Crucible offers full and partial scholarships for our Youth Program classes to local area youth. Each year, we hold 20% of all youth class spaces for scholarship students. These scholarships are funded by The Crucible’s general funds, foundation grants, and individual donations. Scholarships will be offered on a first come, first served basis to youth ages 8-17 and we accept scholarship applications throughout the year.
In 2017, we were excited to run three new classes during camps – Skateboard Building, Woodworking, and Blacksmithing II – with great success. You can look at fun photos of our creative campers in those classes and more in our Summer Camp Photo Gallery.
Watch our camp in action
We offer both morning and afternoon camps, with optional After Care 4-6 pm. See KRON4’s video about this creative experience that kids will never forget!
