2020 Spring Open House

POSTPONED — 2020 Spring Open House

The Crucible is closely monitoring the situation surrounding Covid-19 Coronavirus. Across the Bay Area, public health officials are encouraging businesses to cancel or postpone non-essential public gatherings due to the risk of community spread of this virus.

For this reason, The Crucible is postponing our upcoming Spring Open House, originally planned for Saturday, March 21.

The safety and health of our students is very important to us and we work every day to ensure that our facility is the safest place it can be for people of all ages to learn and create in the fine and industrial arts. Our studio staff and volunteers regularly sanitize shared items like door knobs, tools, safety glasses, and equipment. Recently, we have increased the frequency of that sanitation and cleaning. In our studio and bathrooms, we’ve posted signs reminding folks of best practices for hand washing. We’ve made disinfecting wipes and sprays more available throughout our space. At this time, we are doing our best to ensure The Crucible is a safe, clean place for our community to be creative.

You have heard it before and it is worth repeating:

Right now, the best thing to do is make sure your hands are clean, your space is clean, and that you avoid touching your face and shaking hands. If you are feeling unwell or exhibiting flu-like symptoms, stay at home.

For artists, this is a great time to clean both your studio space and to sanitize any tools you use frequently. We encourage you to also post virus prevention signage in your community spaces—whether that’s at your office, community center, or shared studio art space.

Thank you for helping us all stay healthy—and creative. We are actively monitoring the situation in our region and at The Crucible. If you have any questions about how The Crucible is responding to the Covid-19 Coronavirus, feel free to reach out to [email protected].
