Art Show
Every spring we like to show off what we do here with a spectacular art show. We will have pieces from Crucible staff, students, faculty and volunteers showcasing all the fabulous industrial arts classes we teach here. During the open house we will ask visitors to vote on their favorite top three pieces and awards those artists with free tuition on a Crucible class of their choice.

Combining Science and Art
At our Open House Lindsay Waldrop will be debuting her science experiement about how crabs smell with their noses and how she used glass flameworking to help complete her project.

“I’m a graduate student at UC Berkeley, and I study the way crabs capture and use smells by building models of their hairy “noses” with pulled glass.  When I started studying a different species of crab, one that lives on land, I realized that pulling glass wouldn’t be enough.  I turned to the Crucible’s glass flame-working studio for help to create my model and finish my experiments.  Please stop by the Open House to learn more about sniffing crabs and how the Crucible helped me create art for science!” – Lindsay Waldrop
