Every summer, our studio comes alive as youth summer campers return for week-long offerings in the industrial arts. This summer, students will have the opportunity to cast metal, fuse glass, mold clay, and so much more.
Earlier this year, we relaunched our Glass Blowing Department with a greater community focus in mind. The idea was to expand our offerings to include free or subsidized programming to school teachers, community educators, youth groups, and beyond. To spearhead this new programming, we enlisted the help of two incredible Glass artists and educators, Kate Drury and Sam Schumacher, as our new Glass Blowing Department Co-Heads.
The Crucible is pleased to announce Josephine Lee as our new Director of Programs. This role is crucial for developing and managing faculty, classes, events, community outreach, and so much more.
Our 2022 Youth Spring Camps have the studio buzzing with creative energy. Campers have come up with some amazing projects, including a giant ceramic toothbrush, beautifully crafted metal rings, and an LED lightsaber and wand.
Soirée is The Crucible’s once-a-year glittering fundraising event that raises more than $150,000 to fund scholarships and support for our industrial arts education programs.
In Spring of 2021, The Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County put out a national call to artists for the public art project—a call that found its way to our Welding Department Head, Mark Metz. This art piece will have you feeling butterflies.
Zeydi Gutierrez, prior strategic director of AB&I Foundry and longtime community member and supporter of East Oakland, has recently joined The Crucible Board of Directors. Zeydi brings her expertise and passion for workforce development to The Crucible Board.
